• Every year Elkana would bring sacrifices at the Mishkan in Shilo.

• Elkana had two wives Penina and Chana.

• Penina would taunt Chana for not having children.

• On a yearly basis Elkana would try to console Chana by giving her an extra portion from the sacrificed meat.

• Chana went to the Mishkan and made a vow that if she would have a child she would dedicate it for the service of

• Hashem at the Mishkan and the child would be a Nazir.

• Eli the Kohen mistakenly thought Chana to be drunk after seeing her lips move with no words coming out.

• Chana related to Eli the Kohen she was praying to Hashem for a child.

• Chana’s prayers were answered.

• Chana named her child Shmuel.

• Chana dedicated Shmuel to work in the Mishkan as she promised.
