Shmuel II Perek 1

• After the death of King Shaul, and Dovid’s victory against Amalek, Dovid returned to Tziklag, his place of residence.

• An Amaleiki man, wearing torn clothing and covered with dirt, came to Dovid and related the tragedy of the deaths of King Shaul and Yonason.

• The Amaleiki man was carrying King Shaul’s royal crown and bracelet.

• The Amaleiki man told how he had personally killed King Shaul

Note: this is seemingly in contradiction with the account of King Shaul dying in Shmuel I Perek 31. Radak and Abarbanel suggest that this man was just filling in the details of what had happened.

• Dovid ordered the Amaleiki man to be killed.

• Dovid lamented the deaths of King Shaul and Yonason.
