Ovadiah Perek 1

Most meforshim learn that although Ovadiah is written in past tense, it’s referring to the times of Mashiach.

• Ovadiah prophesies about the downfall of Edom, who stem from Esav.

• Edom was the smallest of the nations.

• “Hashem has brought you, Edom, down from the heights of the world!

• You will be punished because you robbed your brother Yaakov.”

• Edom should not have stood back and watched Yaakov being ridiculed and destroyed.

• Therefore, Edom will be punished!

• On that day Am Yisrael will return to Eretz Yisrael.

• “My nation will rebuild the ruins of old.

• The land will then give forth its blessings of fruits and vineyards.

• On that day, Mashaich will come and wipe out Esav on My holy mountain.

• The entire world will know God is one!”
