Micha Perek 5

• This perek is a prophecy of redemption

• Mashiach, who stems from the lineage of Dovid, is going to be revealed to the world.

• God will hand Yisrael’s enemies over to them.

• The remainder of Yisrael will return to Eretz Yisrael. Mashaich will rise and lead them with the might of God.

• Then they will live in tranquility and Mashiach’s fame will spread throughout the world.

• If Assyria comes to attack, Hashem will provide seven shepherds and eight princes to defend Yisrael. (Sukkah 52B brings that the seven shepherds and the eight princes are all men of high standing. The seven shepherds are: Dovid, Sheis, Enosh, Mesushelach, Avraham, Yaakov and Moshe. The eight princes are: Yishai, Shaul, Shmuel, Amos, Tsefania, Chizkiya, Eliyahu and Mashiach.)

• Mashiach and his men will defend Yisrael.

• At that time Yisrael will be like a lion that tears apart its prey. According to Rashi and Metsudos this refers to the war of Gog U’Magog.

• Hashem is going to purify Yisrael by ridding the land of all the false prophets, idols, and impurity.

• God is going to wreak vengeance upon the nations which didn’t follow His word.
