Chavakuk Perek 2

• Chavakuk gives affirmation to Hashem that he will wait for God to answer his plea from the previous perek.

• Hashem tells Chavakuk to write the following prophecy in a cryptic manner so that only the generation for whom it is relevant will understand what it means. (Radak)

• Hashem proceeds to answer his plea from the previous perek by revealing to Chavakuk a prophecy about the downfall of Bavel. Note: we only know that this is referring to Bavel because it has happened already. Also, some meforshim learn that this prophecy is referring to the final redemption, but most don’t.

• God is going to destroy Bavel.

• In the end, they will truly know that God runs the world. (Radak)

• Bavel will see God’s glory fill the world like the waters that cover the sea.

• Death will be upon Bavel.
