• Chavakuk asks Hashem why He allows evil to flourish in the world.

• The evil in the world seemingly goes against God’s will for His divine light to shine, yet God still allows it?!

• “Why do You let the tzadikim suffer and the resha’im prosper?”

• Evil seems to be an impediment to God’s will.

• God responds by telling Chavakuk that he will see the rise and fall of Bavel as a world power during his lifetime.

• Chavakuk than again pleads with God to not allow evil to reign in the world and to not allow Bavel to harm Yisrael.

• “Hashem, why are You going to subject mankind to the rule of Nevuchadnetzar?”
