• Amos calls the wealthy women “fat cows” for indulging in all of their luxuries.

• The women also get their husbands drunk to commit immoral acts. (Me’am Loez)

• However, they are going to be exiled with all of their possessions.

• The navi relates in a rhetorical manner that Yisrael should continue to worship idols because that is what they love to do!

• There is going to be a famine in the land.

• Your teeth will remain white from lack of food.

• A plague of locusts will come and destroy all of your crops.

• God is punishing you to make you come close Him and do teshuva!

• God is in charge of the heavens and earth and can do whatever He pleases.
