Hoshea Perek 9

• How can Yisrael be happy when they are about to punished?

• The nation is going to be thrown out of Eretz Yisrael!

• Their food will become impure in a land that is not theirs.

• Woe to the false prophets who led the nation astray and were completely fake.

• The nation has become more corrupt than the people of Givah. (This is reference to the story of pilegesh b’Givah, brought at the end of sefer Shoftim, where she was cut up into twelve pieces, which were sent to the tribes of Yisrael.)

• God curses Yisrael because their children have been evil since they were born.

• Hoshea interrupts God’s harsh prophecy with his own words, for fear of expressing such a harsh rebuke.

• Efraim will be uprooted.
