Shmuel I Perek 16

• Hashem told Shmuel to stop mourning over Shaul.

• Hashem told Shmuel to head to the house of Yishai in Bet-Lechem to anoint one of Yishai’s children.

• Shmuel brought along a cow as peace offering. This was done in order for Shaul not to suspect Shmuel’s reason to travel to Bet-Lechem was to anoint a new King.

• Yishai brought each one of his 7 children in front of Shmuel to be anointed as the new king of Yisrael.

• Shmuel denied each child and inquired if Yishai had more children.

• Dovid, Yishai’s youngest child is brought from the field.

• Hashem told Shmuel to anoint Dovid as the new king of Yisrael.

• Dovid was anointed and a feast was eaten.

• The “spirit of Hashem” departed from Shaul.

• Shaul sought a musician to play music for him to make him feel happy again.

• Dovid was indentified as man of character and a fine musician to play the harp for Shaul.

• Shaul loved Dovid.

• Dovid became Shaul’s armor bearer.

• Dovid remained with Shaul. Whenever Dovid played music Shaul felt happy again.
