  • The Plishtim were enraged about the assassination.

  • Through out Klal Yisrael it was thought of as Shaul who killed the Plishti leader not Yonason.

  • Simultaneously Shmuel had commanded Shaul to wait 7 days for Shmuel to return to advise Shaul how to defeat the Plishtim.

  • Plishtim had an army of 30,000 chariots. Much of Yisrael went into hiding from fear of the Plishtim.

  • Shaul did not wait a full 7 days for Shmuel to show up and started bringing sacrifices before Shmuel had arrived.

  • Shmuel rebuked Shaul for not waiting and doing what Hashem had told Shaul. Shmuel told Shaul he we lose the kingship for not listening.

  • Shaul and Yonason took 600 men for battle against the Plishtim.

  • Not a single sword was found in the entire land as the Plishtim put a ban on Yisrael from making weapons (Shaul and Yonason secretly had swords).
