Shmuel I Perek 2

• Chana poured out her heart in prayer to Hashem in thanks of the child Hashem gave her. Her child’s name was Shmuel.

• Shmuel steadily served Hashem in the Mishkan.

• The children of Eli, Chafni and Pinchas, sinned (on their level) by taking a larger portion of meat than allotted to them from the sacrifices that were being brought.

• Eli gave Chana another blessing for children. Chana had 3 sons and 2 daughters.

• Eli grew older and did not rebuke Chafni and Pinchas for lying with women at the Mishkan.

Gemara Shabbos 55a relates the sons of Eli did not actually commit that sin. Rather they delayed the bringing of a certain type of sacrifice that in return delayed women from returning home to their husbands. See Shabbos 55a for further discussion.

• Pinchas the Kohen rebuked Eli for not chastising his children and correcting their mistakes.
