Yeshaya Perek 13

• The prophecy in this perek is primarily about how Hashem will destroy the nation of Bavel.

• Hashem appointed “other nations” to go to war against Bavel. (Rashi, Metsudos and Malbim say that this refers to Paras and Madai, who destroyed Bavel.)

• Hashem will send these nations from a great distance to wipe out Bavel. Hashem and His weapons are coming to destroy the earth!

• Hashem says, “I will repay all of the sinners of the earth for their wickedness. I will humble the haughty. The heavens and the earth will tremble in fear of Me!”

• The magnificent kingdom of Bavel will be completely turned over like S’dom and Amorah were.

• The Navi then details how Bavel will be desolate forever.
