Yeshaya Perek 7

• Yeshaya prophesied with his son, Shor Yoshuv, to Achaz, the king of Yehudah, that the king of Aram and the king of Yisrael would cease to be a military threat to him in Yehudah.

• Yeshaya gave Achaz this sign: Yeshaya’s own wife would give birth to a son. She would name the boy Emanuel through Divine inspiration, without her realizing it. (Rashi) During the boy’s lifetime the northern kingdom of Yisrael would not cease to exist.

• (Achaz was arrogant and did not want a sign from Hashem, but Yeshaya gave him one anyway.)

• Although Yisrael and Aram would no longer be a threat to Achaz, Sancheriv, the king of Ashur, would be.

• The king of Ashur would invade Yehudah and leave it desolate.
