Hashem’s relationship with Am Yisrael is like that of a potter who forms clay into which ever shape he desires. Alshich Hakadosh explains that this is a deep reference to techiyas hamaisim. Hashem has the ability to revive the dead and bring them back to life.

At any moment Hashem can destroy or uplift any nation as He sees fit.

Hashem continues to urge Yirmiya to tell the nation to do teshuvah.

Yisrael has given up on returning to Hashem.

Yisrael’s low level of thinking leads them astray from serving Hashem.

The residents of Anasos and Yerushalayim were planning to kill Yirmiya. Targum explains: They wanted to spread slander about Yirmiya. They were planning on having false witnesses testify that Yirmiya had committed adultery. This would cause Yisrael to automatically not listen to Yirmiya.

Yirmiya prayed for his own physical safety and for Hashem to punish those who wanted to harm him.
