Bullet Point Summary

Yirmiya Perek 27

This prophecy occurred in the beginning of the reign of King Yehoyakim.

Hashem instructed Yirmiya to wear a yoke around his arms and neck and to send an additional five yokes to the other kings/ nations of the world. This symbolized how the world would be under the yoke/rule of Nevuchadnetzar.

Note: Rashi says that Yirmiya actually wore the yoke for fifteen years. Radak says that Yirmiya wore the yoke for only one year.

Yirmiya sent a message to King Tzidkiya that it is better to surrender and accept the yoke of Nevuchadnetzar and not be exiled from the land, than to try to fight against Nevuchadnetzar and be thrown out of the land.

Yirmiya told the people not to listen to the false prophets who claimed that Hashem would deliver Bavel into their hands.

Nevuchadnetzar will plunder the vessels of the Beis Hamikdash.
