Yirmiya Perek 42

Note: This perek follows the previous perek chronologically, following the assassination of Gedalyah.

A group of Jewish leaders asked Yirmiya to pray to Hashem on their behalf, asking Him how they should proceed going forward.

The group promised to obey Hashem’s directives no matter what.

Yirmiya consented and prayed on their behalf.

Yirmiya related God’s word: “Don’t be scared of the king of Bavel.

“If you stay in Eretz Yisrael, I will have pity on you and I will strengthen you.

“However, if you choose to move to Egypt, all of the horrors which you faced in Yerushalayim you will also face in Egypt.”
