Bullet Point Summary

Yirmiya Perek 13

Yirmiyah was to don loincloth, remove the garment from his waist, and leave it by the Euphrates river. Upon returning, Yirmiya dug up the cloth and found it ruined. Note: Radak suggests that this could have happened. Rambam, however, learns that this never actually happened, but Hashem showed it to Yirmiya in a prophetic vision.

Yisrael was supposed to “cling” to Hashem like a garment. However, they will be destroyed, as they’ve chosen falsehood and idolatry.

The residents of Yehudah have become alcoholics, drunk with wine.

A call for teshuva: “Don’t be haughty! Just return to Hashem!”

Yirmiya was told to address King Yehoyachin and the queen (Yehoyachin’s mother, as he was not married yet.)

“Remove your glorious crowns! Disaster is coming!”

The downfall of Yehudah is on its way.

They will be shamed like women whose skirts have risen above their faces.
