• Because of God’s love for the Jewish nation they are held to a higher standard.

• “Of all the nations of the earth, I loved only you. That is why I will punish you for all of your transgressions.”

• Amos urges the nation to listen to God’s words.

• All aspects of a person’s life are arranged by God, especially that of a prophet who delivers His words!

• God tells His secrets to the navi.

(Rashi and Radak explain that the reason that Hashem tells His secret to the navi first is to teach Emunah to Am Yisrael. Everything happens because God has an exact plan, and when the navi would prophetically tell Yisrael what was going to happen, Yisrael would see it happen.

• Amos calls the attention of the surrounding nations to watch how Yisrael is going to be punished for not following the word of God.
