• Amos is shown a vision of locusts that will ravage Eretz Yisrael.

• Amos prays to Hashem on behalf of Israel and succeeds in getting God to nullify the decree.

• Amos is shown a vision of a heat wave or drought (Radak and Metsudos) that will take place in Eretz Yisrael.

• Amos prays to Hashem on behalf of Yisrael and succeeds in getting God to nullify the decree.

• God shows Amos a vision of a “plumb line” and how Hashem is going to use the plumb line to bring strict measure and judgment upon Yisrael. Meforshim explain that a plumb line is a tool that was used to measure the vertical height of walls in those days.

• Amazya, a priest for idol worship, tried to get Amos run out of town by telling Yeravom, King of Yisrael, that Amos is trying to incite the people against him by prophesying that Yeravom will die and the nation will be exiled from their land.

• Amos denied the claim and then proceeded to curse Amazya.
