· This perek is a prophecy about the destruction of Ninveh.

· Nachum prophesies about the complete decimation of the people of Ninveh, which is the capitol of Ashur.

· “I am a jealous God full of vengeance.

· “Even though I am slow to anger and very forgiving, the people of Ashur have reached their limit.

· “My patience with Ninveh has run out.

· “I will completely demolish them!

· “Do they think they can hide from me? Don’t they know that my presence can shatter mountains?

· “My nation, Yisrael, has suffered enough.

· “I will take down their enemies.”
