Shmuel I Perek 3

• Shmuel received his first prophecy in an era when prophecy was not common.

• Shmuel had lay down and mistakenly thought Eli the Kohen was calling his name.

• Each time Shmuel thought Eli called his name. Eli each time sent Shmuel away as Eli did not call for him.

• After the 3rd time Eli had understood Shmuel had received prophecy but was unaware.

• Eli coached Shmuel to lie down and receive the prophecy.

• Hashem related to Shmuel: Shmuel will become a great a leader. The Ark will be captured. Both Chafni and Pinchas will die on the same day as well as the Kahuna will be lost from the family of Eli.

• Upon request Shmuel related the prophecy to Eli. Eli accepted the “bad news” as the will of Hashem.
