Shmuel I Perek 8

• Shmuel appointed his children Yoel and Aviyah to be Judges over Yisrael in his old Age.

• Yoel and Aviyah did not follow in Shmuel’s ways. Yoel and Aviyah would take bribes for judging Yisrael (this was a sin on their level.)

• Yisrael approached Shmuel and requested to have a King rule them. They wanted to be like the nations of the world.

• Shmuel asked Hashem. Hashem related to Shmuel Yisroel’s desire to be ruled like a king is a direct rejection of Hashem.

• Shmuel related to the entire nation the harshness that will accompany Yisrael with appointment of king.

• Yisrael still expressed desire to be ruled by a king.

• Hashem “consented” and told Shmuel to listen to Yisrael.
