Bullet Point Summary

Shmuel I Perek 27

  • After leaving King Shaul, Dovid decided to leave Eretz Yisroel for safety and went to King Achash of Gas.

  • Dovid lived in the royal city with King Achash as Achash wanted to keep an eye on Dovid.

  • Dovid pledged allegiance to Achash and asked for a plot of land to live in. Achash gave Dovid and 600 men the place of Tziklag to live in.

  • Dovid used this a pretense to wipe out the nations of Amalek, Grushy and Grizi (Abarbanel – These were enemies of King Achash and therefore Achash permitted them to be killed.)

  • Dovid would tell King Achash he went to war against certain parts of Eretz Yisroel as a way to gain the trust of Achash.

  • Achash thought Dovid was loyal to him.
