Tehilim Perek 105

Hello everybody, I’m Rabbi Shaya Sussman, covering the entire TANACH one perek at a time. Today’s NachDaily is Tehilim Chapter 105, with 45 pessukim.

Dovid composed this song when he moved the Aron Kodesh, Holy Ark, from the house of Oved Edom to Ir Dovid. Every morning this was sung in front of the Aron until Shlomo moved it to the Beis Hamikidash.

The Arizal says that this chapter is almost entirely about revealing God’s presence in the world. Saying this psalm has the ability to completely eradicate and suppress the klipos, impeding negative forces.

In this chapter, Dovid moves through the history of Am Yisrael in a celebratory manner, relating that our history differs from that of the other nations. Hashem’s Hand has been guiding world events behind the scenes solely for our sake.

The perek is filled with feelings of happiness, gratitude, and thanks for all that Hashem has done for us through our existence as a nation. Hashem has promised our illustrious leaders, Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov, that their descendants will be great.

Hashem gave us His most precious land, Eretz Yisrael, so that we can have our own land from to serve Him. Keep in mind that Eretz Yisrael is not merely great for its physical properties, but for its spiritual qualities. The Ramchal, in the sefer Mishkaney Elyon, explains that the Makom Hamikdash is the umbilical cord of creation. Through it specifically, and Eretz Yisrael in general, the entire world receives the spiritual sustenance needed to exist.

The chapter goes on to relate how we started off as a small nation, wandering from land to land. Hashem eventually put Yosef in a position of power to help us. Many years later, He gave us the great prophet Moshe Rabbenu and his brother, Aharon. Hashem did this all for our good. He shattered the creation with 10 plagues by saving us from Mitzrayim. Egypt was left in rubble.

The perek then recalls the miracles of the mon, manna, in the desert, the rock that g,ave forth water and the way that Hashem protected us there.

The point of all this is to see how much goodness Hashem has given Am Yisrael, for which we should sing and praise Him.

We have much to be thankful for as a nation. It’s only out of Hashem’s great chessed that He’s begun to return us back to Eretz Yisrael. There are approximately 6 and half million Jews there now, which is, according to some estimations, more than half of the world’s Jewish population! We are truly living in amazing times, and it befits us to be happy, open up our hearts and lips, and begin speaking to Hashem about all the goodness He continues to do for us.

May we merit seeing the full redemption with the building of the 3rd Beis Hamikdash with our very own eyes.

Thank you for listening, and have a wonderful day.
