Yechezkel rebukes the nation for having eyes and ears but not utilizing them to properly “see and hear” God’s messages of impending doom and His call for teshuvah.

Yechezkel was to enact an exile as a sign to the nation they will soon be exiled. Note: This prophecy was not only seen in a vision by Yechezkel, but was actually performed by him. (most meforshim)

God commanded Yechezkel to dress in sack cloth, use a walking stick, blindfold himself, and leave the city gates of Yerushalayim at night, in the presence of Yisrael.

Yechezkel was also to relay the specific message of the enactment to King Tzidkiyahu.

A popular saying at that time amongst Klal Yisrael was “all prophecies won’t come true.” Hashem told Yechezkel that all the prophecies will certainly come true and He will hasten the destruction that will come upon the residents of Yerushalayim.
