Read the text of Yeshayahu 1
Bullet Point Summary
Yeshaya Perek 1
-
Yeshaya opens with a negative prophecy chastising Yisrael for not knowing their Master. All of creation knows who its owner is and does the will of its master. An ox knows its owner and a donkey knows from whom he gets his food.
-
Yeshaya tells the leaders of Yehudah that their sins, on their level, are comparable to S’dom and Gemorah.
-
“Why does Hashem need all of your sacrifices?” Yeshaya asked. He urged the nation to serve Hashem with sincerity, and not by rote. He urged the nation to do teshuva.
-
Yeshaya related that the nation of Yisrael had become corrupt, and had therefore fallen from its great stature.
-
He also related a great vision of the future: Hashem will return all of the judges and advisers to Yerushalayim, and Zion will be restored.
