Yeshaya Perek 15

  • Yeshaya prophesied about the destruction of Moav, by Sancheiriv.

Note: this is the second of several prophecies throughout Sefer Yeshaya about the destruction of Moav.

  • Both of the Moav cities Or and Kier will be destroyed in the nighttime.

  • Moav will go crying to their place of worship, Divon.

  • People’s clothing will be worn out as they cry on their rooftops. Moav will be gripped by the fear of Hashem.

  • Yeshaya prays on behalf of Moav that they not be denigrated and destroyed (Rashi). Radak learns that Yeshaya was describing how Moav will cry out when Hashem will bring destruction upon them.

  • The waters of Moav will be filled with blood. Hashem will send lions to attack the remaining survivors of Moav.
