Yeshaya Perek 19

• This is primarily a prophecy about the downfall of Egypt.

Note: Rashi and Radak learn that this perek is referring to Sancheriv, king of Ashur, who will destroy/humble Egypt. However, it is unclear amongst other meforshim when this prophecy will take place, if it hasn’t already taken place .

• Hashem will come upon Egypt swiftly, in a cloud.

• The Egyptians will shudder and be gripped with inner fear.

• A civil war with much internal fighting and strife will take place amongst the Egyptians themselves.

• The entire fishing industry will collapse as a result of the rivers drying up. This, as a result, will cause despondency amongst the Egyptians. when Hashem made all of the “brilliant” advisors confused.

• Yeshaya describes how there will five towns in Egypt where the people speak Hebrew. An altar will be built in Egypt, and Hashem’s name will spread throughout the land.

• There will be unity between Egypt, Ashur, and Yisrael.

• Hashem will reiterate His love for His cherished nation Yisrael.
