Yeshaya Perek 29

• Yeshaya laments the destruction of Ariel, the city of Yerushalim. Ariel is a reference to the altar that was going to be destroyed by Sancheriv (according to most meforshim.)

• Yeshaya promises that Am Yisrael will be saved after Sancheriv’s siege.

• Addressed to the false prophets of Yehudah: “Hashem will cast a deep sleep over you. You are full of lies.”

• Yeshaya tells the nation: “Your mouths and lips honor me but your heart is far away from me.” Yeshaya urged the nation to serve Hashem with honesty, sincere desire, and with happiness.

• The wicked will be punished and the righteous will be rewarded.

• Hashem will cut down the oppressors of Am Yisrael.

• Just as Hashem redeemed Avraham, so too will He redeem Yisrael. Hashem will once again elevate Yisrael to its original, lofty stature.
