Yeshaya Perek 38

• Chizkiyahu became deathly ill. Hashem punished him for deliberately not having children. Chizkiyahu saw with Divine insight that the child who would be born, Menashe, would be an evil king who would cause degeneration to the holy levels of Yisrael. (Brachos 10b)

• Chizkuyahu prayed for life from the depths of his being.

• Hashem granted Chizkiyahu an additional fifteen years of life.

• Hashem told Yeshaya to convey to Chizkiyahu a sign that would show that his prayers were accepted.

• The shade on a sundial would recede by ten degrees, with a concomitant increase of sunlight replacing the receded shade. The increase of sunlight represented the increase of life granted to Chizkiyahu.

• Chizkiyahu sang a song/prayer of thanks to Hashem!

• Chizkiyahu put wet figs on his boils in order to heal the open wounds. According to Rashi, this was a miracle within a miracle, as figs normally irritate open wounds. In this case, Hashem caused the figs to heal the boils.
