Yeshaya Perek 40

Note: This is the haftorah for Shabbos Nachamu.

• Yeshaya provides a two-fold comfort to Yisrael. Metsudos and Eben Ezra say that this prophecy refers to our current exile.

• Yisrael paid double for their sins throughout their history in exile.

• A path will be created for Yisrael to return to Tzion.

• Hashem will reveal His Glory for the entire world to see.

• The nature of the physical world is to rot and decay. But Hashem’s word lasts forever.

• Hashem has and will gently and kindly guide Yisrael back to Eretz Yisrael and take care of them.

• Yeshaya describes man’s insignificance compared to Hashem’s greatness.

• Hashem will support those who trust in him.
