Yirmiya Perek 19

Note: All prophecies of destruction throughout Sefer Yirmiya need to be understood through the lenses of Hashem’s love for the nation. Hashem is not cruel nor does He punish for the sake of punishment. Rather, Hashem punishes for the sake of tikun – rectification.

A harsh prophecy of destruction:

Hashem tells Yirmiya to go the Valley of Henom (Gei Henom) with a potter’s vessel and smash it in front of the residents.

Just like this vessel was shattered, so to will Hashem destroy the residents of Gei Ben Henom and Tofess.

These places are filled with the death of innocent blood and idol worship.

Hashem will cause a horrific death to the men, women and children of these towns.
