Yirmiya Perek 20

Pashchur, the son Emor the kohen, a chief officer in the Beis Hamikdash, had Yirmiya beaten and thrown into jail.

The next day Pashchur let Yirmiya go free.

Yirmiya prophetically gave Pashchur the new name Panic, as Pashchur and his friends will all panic when Nevuchadnezar will destroy the residents of Yehudah.

Yirmiya relates his personal feelings of being shamed, mocked, and ridiculed because of his mission to deliver the word of God.

Yirmiya contemplates giving up his mission, but affirms that Hashem’s word is “burning on his heart” and therefore he will continue his mission.

Yirmiya express regret that he was ever born into this world.
