Yirmiya Perek 39

The final destruction of the Beis Hamikdash:

Yerushalayim was under siege.

Tzidkiyah was captured by Nevuchadnetzar and brought to Bavel.

Tzidkiyah’s children were killed before his eyes and then he was blinded.

The Beis Hamikdash was burned down.

Nevuchadnetzar ordered Nevuzaradan to release Yirmiya from jail.

Yirmiya was then handed over to Gedaliah ben Achikam, who was appointed by Nevuchadnetzar to rule over the small remaining population of Jews still in Eretz Yisrael.

Yirmiya received a prophecy that he and Eved-melech (who saved Yirmiya from the pit of death) would be rewarded for doing “what’s right in the eyes of Hashem.”
