Bullet Point Summary

Yirmiya Perek 52- FINAL PEREK! YOU DID IT!

Whether you are a casual listener/reader or a daily follower, it’s fitting to be happy on the completion of Sefer Yirmiya! NachDaily is more than half way through the entire Nevi’im!

On a personal level, I have mixed feelings about finishing Sefer Yirmiya. On one hand, we need to be happy any time we complete a sefer. On the other hand, we are still suffering today from the events that occurred in sefer Yirmiya – the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash and our exile from our home land.

Chazal teach us, “He who does not rebuild the Beis Hamikdash in his lifetime, it is as if he destroyed it.” The opportunity to rebuild the Beis Hamikdash exists in each generation. We need to seize the moment. We are living in truly amazing times, as many of the prophecies regarding the rebuilding of Yerushalayim and the ingathering of the exiles have already begun to come true!

We will be learning Sefer Yechezkel next.

________

Tsidkiya reigned over Yerushalayim for eleven years, starting at age twenty one.

In the 9th year of Tsidkiya’s reign, Nevuchadnetzar laid siege to Yerushalayim.

The siege lasted for approximately two years. No food remained in Yerushalayim, and the residents were starving to death.

Yerushalayim was then destroyed and the Beis Hamikdash was burned.

In all, 4,600 people were exiled by Nevuchadnetzar from Eretz Yisrael.

After Nevuchadnetzar died, his son, Eviel-Merodach, ruled over Bavel.

Eviel-Merodach freed King Yehoyachin from jail and appointed him to a position of power.

Yehoyachin was supported by Eviel-Merodach for the rest of his life.
